Enjoyable read December 31, 2014

This review is from: Scorched Sands of the Kalahari

A very enjoyable book and at times very exciting as it tells the story of life in Botswana. I have been there and Trevor captures the beauty, enchantment and atmosphere of that great country and it made me want to go back again. Sorry when the book ended and I would recommend it to anyone wanting a good read.

Trevor captures the essence of life in Botswana that cannot be reproduced today. His book describes a unique period in Africa, when working conditions were challenging. However somehow he always seamed to find solutions to keep the job on track.
It is my privilege to know Trevor; the book highlights his determination and skills not only in the workplace but also in his love for sport. A great read! Martin L. Gallon

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Trevor Frost is a man who has grasped life and lived it.

Interesting beyond comparison, December 30, 2014

This review is from: Drilling Where Leopards Cough (Ruangwa Valley Book 1)

Most of us go through life dreaming of adventure and the 'what if' it could bring. 'Drilling where leopards cough' is a story but also a life, led by Trevor Frost and it includes fond anecdotes of his special dog, Major. Later on, this adventure (or life as Trevor knew it) extended to his wife and two boys. A story like this, is almost a once in a lifetime, unbelievable recreation of adventure... and this lifetime is shared with us in such an endearing way. The privilege of working on a drilling rig in the thick of nature, the influences of all the characters (human and animal) that played a role in shaping Trevor into the man he became . The intimate details we learn of one man's life. A tale of life in the bush, the hardships, the fun... But most of all, a love that has lasted forever between Trevor and the bush.

Pull up a chair and grab a cup of coffee. Ready yourself for a cosy evening of 'conversation' with Trevor and be inspired by his wonderful story.

What an exciting book. Any man would wish to live through just one of the many amazing adventures Trevor experienced. I got so into it that I would want to run to my husband and tell him what happened to me. Such a beautiful story of a man, his dog and their incredible wildlife experiences!

Terrific June 22, 2012

This review is from: Drilling Where Leopards Cough (Ruangwa Valley Book 1)

…I found his account of his early career as a driller in the Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) bush to be totally authentic - it is the first book that I have read from cover to cover in one session for a long time. I could not put it down. I eagerly await the sequel, and in the meantime recommend the book to anyone with even a passing interest in a lost era of mineral exploration in Africa.

A terrific read!, June 20, 2012

This review is from: Drilling Where Leopards Cough (Ruangwa Valley Book 1)

... the book is a terrific read because the story comes across more about a man who loved life and the adventures that it brings than anything else. Set in Ruangwa Valley in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), it tells the story of Trevor Frost who, along with a faithful crew of men, and his dog Major, set themselves apart in a a land of wilderness to drill the land for ore minerals, and along the way encounter life through the eyes of nature in it's raw wonder and power; all the way from being chased by a rouge Bull Elephant, to encountering huge python snakes and the smallest, most defensless leopard cubs that had only been in the world for a short while. It is a story of man's ability to live with the beasts and beauty of nature. It is also a story of finding love and raising a family among the same wilderness that Trevor had fallen in love with, and along the way learn some important lessons about life that will take the reader through any type of circumstance that they may be facing. This book is a terrific read for all of those who love nature, animals, and adventure, and the ability to survive it all through loving life and everything that it has to offer.
